This presentation will focus on the pathophysiology, risk factors, classification, and management of acute pulmonary embolism (PE). The focus of management section will be on thrombolytic options and approaches for acute PE. The options will be explained in terms of selection, dosing, and administration techniques. It will also briefly include information on how to transition from thrombolytic therapy to appropriate acute and long-term management of PE. Evidence-based recommendations and the most recent guideline recommendations will be summarized.
